I am hoping I can do this. I have an account with a expressvpn. I have configured my computer (running linux mint) to connect using openvpn.
on connection I get:
tun0 Link encap:UNSPEC HWaddr 00-00-00-00-00-00-00-00-00-00-00-00-00-00-00-00
inet addr:10.174.1.10 P-t-P:10.174.1.9 Mask:255.255.255.255
UP POINTOPOINT RUNNING NOARP MULTICAST MTU:1500 Metric:1 etc.....
and some public address of lets say 64.59.23.157
when I ping this address I get a response but it is not my computer responding.
I was hoping I could get into my ssh server through this public ip assigned to me by expressvpn.
I have no real idea what is happening between tun0 and the public address.
I am hoping there is a setting i can put in my openvpn script that will allow me to get in via this route. perhaps tap rather than tun although it looks like i have to be server side to set that up.
can anyone point me in the right direction or is this a pipe dream.
I had my doubts but then I tried their online help and the first guy tried to help me achive this for half an hour or so and said I should be able to.
the second guy said he did not think I could.
rather than try for a tie breaker I thought someone here might have a definitive answer for me?

Thanks TinCanTech,
Assuming you did read what I wrote you already know I did in fact ask them twice. I received conflicting information leading me to ask someone with more experience with openvpn.
I am doing my due diligence and reading through all the documentation.
If you don't want to answer then don't answer. Given your activity in the forum ignoring post that annoy you would be a better user of your time.
