Essentially, the software is trying to push the iPv6 config to the interface 4, which doesn't exist!! That's the main problem. Where is it getting interface=4? It should be pushing those setting to interface 33 (which is the VPN/TAP bridge, correct?) If I run the NET NETSH manually thru an elevated CMD prompt, I get the same error, however, if I use the same command but use interface 33, it's fine! So why is it trying to push to interface 4?

If I disconnect the VPN bridge and use ONLY the VPN TAB device, it connects fine.

Things I've tried:

- Using different VPN software: FAI
- running NETSH command from elevated command prompt: FAIL
- Removing all NICs and reinstalling: Same error

I'm stuck!

Please help!

Right, I did this. I set both the IPv4 and IPv6..but it still throws that error?

Right, I did this. I set both the IPv4 and IPv6..but it still throws that error?

I go into the Bridge IPv6 Settings, and manually set the static IPv6 Address as follows:

2606:ed00:4786:24::10f8
Subnet Prefix: 64
Default Gateway: 2606:ed00:4786:21::1

DNS is blank

Then, I try to connect, and I get this error:

Mon Jul 25 13:18:22 2016 NETSH: C:\WINDOWS\system32\netsh.exe interface ipv6 set address interface=7 2606:ed00:4786:24::10f8 store=active
Mon Jul 25 13:18:22 2016 ERROR: netsh command failed: returned error code 1

I don't understand?

Right, so how do I change that setting so that openVPN doesn't?

Dude, I'm no expert obviously.

I'm simply trying to route VPN traffic thru the second NIC. I'm all ears if you have a better solution.

So update to my issue, I made a bit of progress:

I was able to figure out that that this has to do with IPv6.

My VPN DOES support IPv6 (Azire),

However, when I connect with IPv6 all my ports that are configured in Windows are no longer open, despite being configured at the router and in the Windows Firewall. I also know it's not a windows firewall issue because if I disable it, it still doesn't work.

I've been following this article about port forwarding:

https://social.technet.microsoft.com/Fo ... networking

So I know I need to forward the ports manually when the VPN is connected, but I'm confused as to which adapters to forward FROM and TO.

Am I forwarding from the IP address of the VPN to the Local LAN card? Or to the Router?

Will this even work with IPv6?

Anyone with ideas?
