[Solved]Open VPN for windows run as Service..???

Post by santy » Fri Feb 06, 2015 1:07 am

Hi All,

I am trying to run the open vpn as service. Here is the error&warning from log file.....
Thu Feb 05 18:21:32 2015 OpenVPN 2.3.4 x86_64-w64-mingw32 [SSL (OpenSSL)] [LZO] [PKCS11] [IPv6] built on Aug 7 2014
Thu Feb 05 18:21:32 2015 library versions: OpenSSL 1.0.1i 6 Aug 2014, LZO 2.05
Thu Feb 05 18:21:32 2015 WARNING: No server certificate verification method has been enabled. See http://openvpn.net/howto.html#mitm for more info.
Enter Private Key Password:
Thu Feb 05 18:21:33 2015 ERROR: could not not read Private Key password from stdin
Thu Feb 05 18:21:33 2015 Exiting due to fatal error

I am not sure where or how to give the "PrivateKey Password" or "password for open vpn"?

Can anyone please help me...!

Thanks,
Santy.

the obvious solution is to remove the passphrase from private key if you
want to use openvpn as a service.

Michele,
Does it mean I need to remove the password from the Key file?
If so Do I need to do the same thing from server side?

Thanks for the response.

if your server key is protected with a passphrase and you want openvpn
to start automatically then yes its good practice to remove the pass from the key.

Thank you so much Michele,

We are discussing with server side team if they can accept to remove the Passphrase from the key file. (I guess they don't)

Just same Q.. Is there is there is no other way to run it as service..?

Thanks,
Santosh
