Help! im trying to install openvpn but the TAP-Win32-Adapte

Help! im trying to install openvpn 1.8.3 but the TAP-Win32-Adapter never gets installed on windows xp pro!!! I have tried uninstalling - reinstalling 100 times. I also looked for any group policy that would block any unsigned drivers to no avail... i also found the tap installer here C:\Program Files\OpenVPN Technologies\OpenVPN Client\driver\win32 and i tried manually doing the>> tapinstall.exe with no luck!

Im about to format this computer just to resolve this problem but I would MUCH MUCH MUCH prefer not to format only for this problem!

Any advice would be great!

also i tried runing tainstall.exe from here too>> C:\Program Files\OpenVPN Technologies\OpenVPN Client\driver\win2k

with the same result. No tap driver in the networks under device manager!
