Newbie problem HELP!

Post by Godspe3d » Sun Nov 20, 2011 11:52 am

First of all, Hi to all openvpn users and community helpers.

Can you help me with this (difficult problem for me) simple problem.

To start off, the config that i'm using is created by another person to connect to a free vpn service.
My problem is, every time i connect to a server in the openvpn client or the portable version there are always errors but the clients says im connected. This vpn provides internet, but when my vpn connects i always cannot browse in my browser. I've done all that the person who created the config instructed me to do, but to no avail.
This is a sample of the log of one of the vpn that im trying to connect:

~~I think this is the config of the working vpn service in my laptop.
Note: It uses .xml document for config?(not sure)

You have to use or OpenVPN or PD-Proxy.

Show the content of flush-dns.bat.

Just do a search on your compute for that file and show the content. If you don't know how to search files in window, i suggest to hire someone.

I right clicked and then clicked edit the flush-dns.bat it says:

@echo off
echo flushing dns... Done!
ipconfig/flushdns

Is this right? When i try to open, it always close on its own.

Sorry for this. I'm dumb in this sort of technicalities.

In your config file of OpenVPN use

Code: Select all

verb 4
script-security 2
Reconnect ans show the log file.

The script file generates an error. Verify again that script flush-dns.bat is in the same folder as config file, has sufficient privileges, and content is correct. I think you have some errors in script file. You can uncoment the line "up flush-dns.bat" in the config file for now.

~~Sorry for the late reply.

I did what you said and erased (is that correct?for uncomment?) up flush-dns.bat.

But there is still an error:

I also removed the router.exe that you mentioned, but no luck. :(

I've some doubts about it.

The service that i'm trying to connect uses openvpn portable.

Is installing the latest openvpn client 2.2.1 results to the update of the same openvpn portable?

Thank you for your time.

Uninstall / remove OpenVPN and do a clean install. It may be some modified version of OpenVPN which uses netsh to configure the adapter, but it's failing because adapter's name must be enclosed in double quotes. Or you can rename "Local Area Connection 63" to something like "openvpn" so there is no spaces in name.

~~I've done what you've instructed me to do.

Uninstall/installed openvpn 2.2.1 then rename tap adapter to openvpn, but to no avail.

The thing is, like what I've stated in my first post, it brings me back to being connected but cannot browse the internet before I did you're instructions.

This is the log of the vpn service:

My observations: my tap adapter ,even if the vpn is connected, doesn't state that it is connected. It always stays with the x mark in my tray. Is this the work of a virus or system malfunction? Do i have to reformat my laptop?

Also, as you can see, the tap win 32 adapter is not listed in the system adapter list, contradicting the first post of mine which stated that tap win32 adapter is recognized? Do i have to install the vpn services that i removed?

Hoping to solve this problem.

~~Godspe3d

NOTE: I also uninstalled the other vpn service that use openvpn? Is this okay?

You didn't do a really clean install. You must uninstal OpenVPN (and the other VPN software), also must uninstall any TAP adapter. Then removing any file resided in installed directory of OpenVPN, do a clean install with a downloaded installer from the openvpn.net. Use original binaries, not the ones that are from other sites.

Also if you suspect any virus in the system - check with antivirus.
