Dynamic IP help.

Hello everyone, I was searching for some help online and found this website and forum. I am trying to connect to a VPN server but I found out that I cannot do this because of my dynamic IP address. I would like to try and avoid purchasing a static IP from my provider. Is it possible to use OPENVPN to connect to a VPN server or does it have to be a specific OPENVPN server? Long story short: I'm trying to connect to http://www.freenlvpn.com/free-nl-vpn/
I always get a connection error.

openvpn will happily connect to a server from a client which has a dynamic address, or which is firewalled/NATted etc.
However, without client and server configs, and most importantly, client and server log files during a failed connection attempt it is impossible to tell what is going on.

nono, I get connection errors because of my dynamic IP by following the normal connection guide (PPTP). I have not trie OPENVPN. I did download the client but I saw that I could not change the connection server and the help files were a bit too advanced. So now that I know that it is possible could you perhaps guide me (or link me to a guide) and help me connect my computer to http://www.freenlvpn.com/free-nl-vpn/

this VPN provider only provides PPTP access - there's no way to make that work with openvpn.
Go ask free-nl-vpn for advice on how to connect.

Ah ok. But generally speaking does this program only connect to special OPENVPN specific servers or to others as well?

openvpn clients can connect to openvpn servers only - it's a proprietary (but open source) protocol. The same applies to IPsec and PPTP: PPTP clients can only connect to PPTP servers etc.
