Hello,
I am having problems importing a profile in the Android app.
I have tried resetting and reinstalling the app but it didn't help.
My device is a Galaxy S10+ running Android 9.
What I do:
1. Install and open app
2. Select "OpenVPN profile"
3. Allow storage access
Then I see a screen where it says "Import profile" on the top left.
The import button on the top right does not do anything.
There is a "Location:" text showing no location.
There is a "<- back" button below the "OpenVPN" tab.
There are no files or folders listed.
When I click "back" I get a "Folder content is Inaccessible" message.
Any help is appreciated.
Thank you!
Chris

Re: Importing profile in Android app not possible, no files and folders listed
I've run into this as well. Replying here as it is the only google search result for this issue and it appears unresolved.
Ticket submitted: #1372
My resolution:
You'll need to go and redo all your OpenVPN credentials after this.
It appears that if you navigate to a folder you don't have permissions for it will say the inaccessible message you have posted.
I think it is a bug since you can't undo or back out to re-enter correct information.

My resolution:
- Long Press: OpenVPN icon
- Press: App info
- Press: Force stop
- Press: Storage & cache
- Press: Clear cache
- Press: Clear storage
- Press: OK (to confirm Delete app data)
You'll need to go and redo all your OpenVPN credentials after this.

Re: Importing profile in Android app not possible, no files and folders listed
Got the same issue today. Android 10, don't remeber app version, already removed it. On .ovpn file import, "location" is empty, pressing "back" get "Folder content is Inaccessible", storage permissions were granted. Tried solution above - same result. My solution was another app. OpenVPN for Android by Arne Schwabe. Imported ovpn and established connection in couple of seconds. Hope, this helps somebody else.

It sounds like the app might not have proper permissions to access the storage on your device. Here are a few things you could try:
Check App Permissions: Go to Settings > Apps > find your VPN app > Permissions > and make sure storage access is allowed.
Manually Select the File: Instead of relying on the app to automatically detect the profile, try manually navigating to the folder where your OpenVPN profile is stored. You may need to move the profile to a more accessible folder (like Downloads or Documents).
Clear Cache and Data: If you haven’t already, try clearing the app’s cache and data: Settings > Apps > select the app > Storage > Clear Cache and Clear Data. Then reinstall the app.
Check Profile Format: Ensure the OpenVPN profile file (.ovpn) is properly formatted and not corrupted. Try downloading it again from a trusted source.
Upgrade Android: Since you’re using Android 9, make sure your phone’s software is fully updated. If possible, upgrading to a newer version of Android could also help.
Let me know if any of these solutions work!

Re: Importing profile in Android app not possible, no files and folders listed
Hi, I apologize for "misusing" your thread. I have a Galaxy S10 myself and the OpenVPN client 3.4.2 (9909) is working as expected with an import of an ovpn profile.
I've now bought a Galaxy S24 (the S10 is out of service life) and with the same OpenVPN client and the same profile import I get the following error:
Connection Failed There was an error attempting to connect to the selected server. Error message: Cannot parse the certificate
Any ideas?
Thank you so much and my sincere apologies again for hijacking your post. I do not seem to be allowed to start a new topic.
