extending the VPN to the WiFi clients

Post by prassidice » Sat Mar 09, 2024 4:56 pm

hello,

I have several samsung smartphone client to my OpenVPN server, and this work;

If if use a smartphone as hotspot, the clients connecting to this smartphone are routed through the 4G i/f and not to the OpenVPN i/f;

is it possible connecting the WiFi clients of a OpenVPN client to the Open VPN as well?

Did you ever get this resolved, im in a similar situation traffic from clients connected via hotspot will not route through the openvpn client. I have tested the PIA client/app and traffic will pass successfully through that.

My openvpn client connects to pfsense not sure if this is a pfsense config issue.

It's possible to route Wi-Fi clients connected to an OpenVPN client through the VPN tunnel. Configure the VPN client to route all traffic and set up the device as a Wi-Fi hotspot using the VPN connection. Consult the device's operating system and VPN client documentation for specific instructions.
