I use Kali Linux on the raspbery pi and I have a VPN connection with my VPN provider.
Only my IP address has not changed, it is still on my default internet provider. I also had to put 8.8.8.8 in the route otherwise I have no internet.
I hope someone can help me further.

Re: Kali linux VPN not change in ipadress.
Welcome to the forum!
It sounds like your VPN might not be correctly routing your traffic. If your IP address isn't changing when connected to the VPN, that's typically the issue.
Try checking the configuration settings provided by your VPN provider. Make sure you're using the correct server address, port, and authentication details.
Also, you mentioned having to use 8.8.8.8 (Google's DNS) to get internet access. This could mean there's a DNS leak. You might want to configure your VPN client to use your VPN provider's DNS servers instead, which should be detailed in their setup guide.

Thank you for the reply.
I have no idea where the configuration files from Kali excist.
For configuration I use the Networkmanager in Kali.
Anyway the map /etc/openvpn are empty only one file excist and that is update resolv-config
Can you give me a tip where to look on this forum for DNS rules.
