Openvpn installed directly on a router

Post by torrente2008 » Sat Jan 14, 2023 10:55 pm

Hi Everyone,
i need help to setup my VPN connection.

I bought a TPLink Archer MR600 4g modem router.
In the web control panel you can enable the VPN server (in the router).
Basically, after you create a DDNS, youjust enable the VPN server; it includes also the service port 1194 (you can modify this but you can select only one), with VPN subnet/netmask 10.8.0.0 255.255.255.0
You can select between TCP or UDP. No other options; no other ports to modify.

I tried several times, both from Windows PC and from android phones; apparently it works ONLY if the client is connected directly to the modem, and if i use the TCP protocol.

If i try anything else (UDP, or any other port), it just is is unable to connect, even within the LAN.
If the client is not connected to the router, no way at all.

So: why a client connected to the router with UDP is unable to connect? Could it be something coming from the 4g ISP?
ANy help?
