GDPR full page blocking, why??

Post by maxburn » Wed Mar 30, 2022 12:58 pm

I'm talking about this page; https://openvpn.net/community-downloads/

I realize GDPR cookie notices are required now but why do you have to BLOCK the entire web page until you do something with the cookie notice?

Also I'm not at all happy with the Dark Patterns involved in "Accept all" or "Adjust Cookies". This is a slimy practice to trick users into the easier path of Accept All. Please add "Reject All Unnecessary".

Personally, I find OpenVPN Incorporated excessive use of cookies to be
an out-right INSULT to the Openvpn community.

People come here with privacy concerns and the first thing they find is
OpenVPN Data-Collector cookies hard at work.

I don''t use their website unless absolutely necessary and then
I use it in a private window, in a completely sanitized profile only.

If OpenVPN Inc. are going to hold people to ransom to view their website
then people will rightly go else where.

This GDPR law threatens people with economic death for non-compliance, but the vast majority of people have no idea what its vague rules really require.
