Using UDP Port 500 not able to connect

Hi All,

I have just setup a VM on my FreeNAS box running Debian and OpenVPN AS. I have been trying to use UDP port 500 as I thought it would be more likley to be allowed out through public wifi connections (I wanted to use UDP also). I am able to connect to the server using any other ports I have tried, 500UDP doesnt seem to work though, has anyone got any ideas why this might be?

I am running tomato (shibbly) on my router.....
