tapinstall won't install adapter when changing device description

Post by synth » Tue May 11, 2021 2:11 pm

I am trying to rename the adapter to something else that isn't 'TAP-Windows Adapter V9' and when I change even the slightest thing in the device description, it won't install the adapter. Any help would be appreciated.

It is probably not possible to rename the adaptor the way you are trying to do so.

There may be something useful here:

I am changing it in the version.m4 file as it says on the page. (I have been using this page since I started)

edit: no matter what i change in the version.m4, it causes the adapter to not install. I changed the component id from tap0901 -> tapzulu and it wouldn't install. Do I have to replace tapinstall.exe?

You probably have to build the project again.
