Need help interpreting error...

Post by ampapa » Sun Mar 14, 2021 3:34 pm

I have OpenVPN running on my dd-wrt router and it appears to be successfully running however I'm unable to connect to it from my Windows desktop as a client. I'm seeing the following error in the log:
2021-03-14 11:26:34 VERIFY ERROR: depth=1, error=self signed certificate in certificate chain: C=TW, ST=Taiwan, L=Taipei, O=QNAP Systems Inc., OU=NAS, CN=TS Series NAS, name=NAS, emailAddress=admin@qnap.com, serial=11021679182630877905
2021-03-14 11:26:34 OpenSSL: error:1416F086:SSL routines:tls_process_server_certificate:certificate verify failed
2021-03-14 11:26:34 TLS_ERROR: BIO read tls_read_plaintext error
2021-03-14 11:26:34 TLS Error: TLS object -> incoming plaintext read error
2021-03-14 11:26:34 TLS Error: TLS handshake failed
I have a QNAP behind my router and from the message above it appears that it is trying to connect to it as opposed to my dd-wrt router for authentication and/or keys.

Can anyone help shed some light on this problem??

Much appreciate any help.

Thanks,

Many thanks for the reply.

Since I'm running OpenVPN on my DD-WRT router that fronts my QNAP.. is that error coming from the Router or from the QNAP?

I'm assuming the errors are coming from the router since it is the only thing running OpenVPN ... are the errors in the log sequentially listed??

My Crystal Ball says: You have a lot of reading ahead.

My Magic Eight Ball says: Don't count on it.

My Rune Bones say: You did not read the previous post.

My cat says: Meow.
