can connect to vpn server but cant access lan machines

i've have an openvpn server set up on one of my raspberry pis for about 2 years now. just recently i am not able to ssh to any of the machines on the LAN ,over the VPN, except to the one raspberry pi that has the vpn server on it. strange enough i can ssh to the other machines (linux mint and another raspberry pi) from the raspberry pi with the vpn server on it.
i have no idea what might have changed. i've rebooted my router, cable modem, all machines, etc.
not sure where to go next.
