Random PUSH_REQUEST problem at connection

Post by battila » Fri May 07, 2021 9:26 am

Hi guys,

I'd like to ask for some help. I have some connectivity issues to the OpenVPN server of my organization. The problem is when clients trying to connect to the VPN server sometimes it doesn't respond for the connectivity request. The error is very random because sometimes the connection goes very well but sometimes it isn't. It all started about 2-3 weeks ago. Nothing changed in the server config, actually I tried to backup it from an earlier state but the problem didn't go away. We didn't do any changes in the network inside the organization. Any idea?

What I see on the client side:

What version of OS and open vpn server? I’m having similar issue and I am using Ubuntu 20.04 and open vpn 2.10.1 but haven’t found anything either.

Support had me turn off unattended updates but it has happened again since doing so.

What MFA are you using? I'm seeing similar issues at the MSP I work at including the turning off unattended upgrades doing nothing but its only for our customers using DUO for MFA, the customers using Microsoft MFA through Azure don't seem to have any issues.

Just trying to narrow down as much as possible while I wait for support.

Hello,

Please note that "2.10.1" is not Community openvpn; it is OpenVPN Access Server, the commercial product. Your similar issue is therefore probably not very similar. But in both cases it seems that the VPN tunnel failed to establish.
