Internet access not working after changing IP range

Dear all,
Due to some IP conflicts I had to change the assigned IPs of the clients from a 10.8. to a 172.30. network.
I did this by changing the server directive to
server 172.30.0.0 255.255.255.0.
After a restart the new IP address is assigned to the clients, but the clients are not able to call any website.
It almost looks like that the gateway (172.30.0.1) is not found. By checking the tun0 on the server, this IP is assigned though.
When I am changing this back to a 10.8. network, it works perfectly.
I have tried this on newly installed OpenVPN clients on Linux and Windows, but it did not work either way.
Do I have to do something on top in order to make this work?
Regards,
TJ
