Howto route?

Hi all,
We have a HPC Linux cluster in LAN. From any compute node (node01,node02,...) I can go to any host of our LAN & to Internet.
From Master node (frontend) we make a connection VPN to a remote server to LAN2. When VPN is up, from master node I can PING to any host of LAN2. But from compute nodes I can't PING.
Someone tell me that I have to make Masternode as "router" of compute nodes through VPN.
Hmm, I have no idea how to do that.
Any idea for help is welcome.
