Multi WAN Bonding with failover

Post by pnet » Tue Jun 26, 2018 11:02 am

Hi,

I'm a bit new to OpenVPN but I'm generally experienced Linux user.

I have 3 internet connections at home and fast linux server at work, with public IP.

Using 2 fast LAN networks and an 4G/LTE-A connection.

And want to setup bonding with the 2 fast LAN's (100 mbps each one) with the 3rd LTE (200 mbps but with 20GB data cap) being a backup/failover in case both LAN's go down (that happens when there is power outage) and retain my sessions at all times when there is atleast one active link.

How can I do that with OpenVPN ?

Are you interested in OpenVPN session to stay alive during the failover? If so, you will need an encapsulation tunnel around your OpenVPN to do the job. You can do this with a software piece such as truffle-v. It runs on linux, however it is a commercial software. If you install it on both ends of your vpn, it will accomplish all the things you desire.
