Using openvpn on asus router - stop internet when vpn fails

hello

i am using asus rt-ac87u with openvpn configured.

i want that if my vpn service fails, that the router keep trying infinitely to make connection to vpn server and never connect to internet directly.
how is this possible?

right now if vpn server fails, router tries 2-3 times, then starts serving users connected to router via internet directly.

there must be a way in openvpn right?
