basic question for understanding cipher

Hi,
in OpenVPN I use the cipher AES-128-CBC. I have one client where the CPU does not have AES flag in /proc/cpuinfo
Will this slower the connection significantly? The client is an NFS server, which shall run over openvpn for security.
