No transmission when connected to UDPv6

Post by deepunder » Sat Jun 05, 2021 4:11 am

I have a netgear r7000 with VPN enabled. I’ve installed the OpenVPN client on my iPhone and transferred the required profiles.

My network and external ISP IP address is IPv4.

Prior to transferring the OpenVPN files onto my phone i change the connection address from an IP to an DNS name that I have registered on the internet.

When I am out and about on my phone, when I connect to VPN it connects with a UDPv6 type connection. When trying to browse the network nothing loads or comes up. I then disconnect and try to force a UDPv4 connection, although requiring a number of attempts it will connect with a UDPv4 connection. I test again and all works and smooth.

I am with Telstra as a carrier on my phone and I have been assigned both an IPv4 and v6 address, my external dns domain doesn’t have any IPv6 registered addresses. The issue seems to be that the OpenVPN client on my phone is connecting to UDPv6. How can I stop this from occurring and always connect to UDPv4?
