What hardware encryption types are supported?

Apple A9 processor supports AES-256 hardware encryption, but does that support spreads to OpenVPN client software?
I'd like to find out whether there would be any difference in cpu load and battery consumption of iphone between these 3 different setups:
BF-128-CBC/SHA1
AES-128-CBC/SHA1
AES-256-CBC/SHA1
