Gateaway+DHCP IP

Post by mandami » Mon Aug 20, 2018 11:14 am

I can connect my android tablet (TUN) (4.4.4) via OpenVPN to my router, but the local IP seems wrong, and there is no Internet connection. My Windows laptop (TAP) connects properly and I have Internet connection as it should.I changed some parameters in the config file but in avail.

The local IP of the router which runs the VPN server (and its gateway) is 192.168.40.1. Still, the tablet receives an ip 192.168.2.2 (gateway: 192.168.2.1). What I'm doing wrong ?

Your router is probably setup incorrectly.

possibly, but why I can't force the settings at client side ? I used "push route" but without results.

Without knowing your server config I cannot be sure but that looks like a valid IP address and gateway. Also, there are no errors in your log.

You need to post full details, please see:

I don't think I can change router's VPN config, or getting access to these settings without using a telnet, or something similar.
The router offers client settings and the only VPN settings I have available are the TAP/TUN ports and DDNS.
The router is a netgear WNDR3700v3 with its default firmware.

Yes you can otherwise it would be unusable.

Also, there are no errors in your log
So it is most likely the server side and we will need the log file as well at --verb 4

netgear has some routers with OpenVPN implemented, but quite rudimentary. Mine works only with certificates, no username&password, and I cannot change VPN's internal parameters. I tried using push route at client side, but no matter I've done the IP and the gateway are still the same.

You cannot push from a client .. I suggest you read the howto and stop guessing.

As I said before, your log looks fine.

Check how this works by reading the log.
