ASUS AC68 Openvpn connection issues

I bought an ASUS AC68 router, which has a build-in Openvpn server. I set it up without problem. However, if I let it run in TUN mode, the connected client cannot access, or even ping, the device on the local net (192.168.1.x) , except for the Gateway at 192.168.1.1. If it is operate at TAP mode, the client works fine, i.e., it can access the local devices. However, an android phone will not work because TAP is not supported by Android operating system. Does anybody has the same problem and if there is a solution? Thanks in advance.
