the normal form for an IPv6 address is recommended by RFC5952. but another longer form can be 0000:0000:0000:0000:0000:0000:0000:0001 (localhost). the normal form for that being ::1. my question is: what is the terminology that describes this form? terms i recall seeing are uniform and full. the latter seems more accurate. also, is there any code around that converts any valid (per RFC4291 or maybe also anything else that is unambiguous) IPv6 address, or at least any normal IPv6 address to this form (prefer C, Pike, Python)?
