Which forum for help with OpenVPN client?

Post by PeteBoyd » Wed Jan 13, 2016 2:03 pm

Hi. The new OpenVPN client isn't working for me in the way it claims it now should with regard asking for admin credentials on Windows. I'd like to post a forum question but there doesn't appear to be a forum for such client questions. Where should I post my question?

Thanks

Typically, problems with the Client end are caused by the Server configuration.

Thus, typically, problems with the Client end should be directed toward the Server administrators.

If you are using a OpenVPN Community Edition Client and Server then post here: If you are using OpenVPN Access Server Client and Server then post here: If you are using OpenVPN to connect to Private Tunnel please see this page: For problems with all other commercial VPN Service providers:
  • Please direct your questions to the Service provider support channel.
  • If you are still stuck with a problem, post a detailed thread in our Off-Topic Forum:
    off-topic-related-f1.html

Be sure to include the provider in question in your subject heading.
Other users of each provider may be able to help if they know which provider you are using ..

Please note: OpenVPN Community Edition is maintained by volunteers,
which is why We do not provide free support for commercial VPN service providers.
However, we do not forbid OpenVPN users helping each other.
If, after all this, you still cannot resolve your issue, consider the openvpn-users mailing list..

Be aware:
  • You may be trying to do something which is beyond the scope of this Forum ..
You may be trying to do something which cannot be done with OpenVPN ..
You may be trying to do something which is not possible at all ..
You may be trying to do something illegal ..

The Administrators of OpenVPN Forum reserve the right to decide and take action.
Pro tip: One final word .. if you really want help here:
  • Take your time and post a detailed thread.
Use the formatting tools so that your question is easy to read.
Always post your own config files and not just "I did this" with a link to a random page.
Post links to pages if they help you explain.
Hope that helps.

Which forum for help with OpenVPN client which is not server related?

Post by whit » Tue Mar 28, 2017 1:32 pm

Hi,

I see the response above that "most problems are with the server." But surely there is a subset which are not. Assuming for the moment that I'm right about having a client problem which is unrelated to the server configuration, where may I best post it?

Thanks,
Whit

As detailed here already:
Which forum for help with OpenVPN client?

If you have a client only problem and you do administer the server then post here:
Openvpn Community Edition - Configuration

If you have a client only problem and you do not administer the server
then the best place to seek help is from the server administrator.

As a last resort you can post here:
Off Topic, Related

A Forum Moderator may move your post if your problem turns out to be something which we can solve and the solution will help others.
