How to redirect IP to domain name on OpenVPN AS?

Post by joeri » Thu Jan 09, 2020 3:04 pm

In our company we created an OpenVPN Access Server (Ubuntu 18.04) to connect to VM's in the Google Cloud. We created a DNS record pointing client.company.com to the OpenVPN Public IP and added a TLS certificate to OpenVPN for that domain.

The situation now is that if we connect to hxxps://client.company.com everything works as intended. However, we can still reach the OpenVPN AS login page with the OpenVPN Public IP. What I want is that if the end-user connects to the IP they are redirected to hxxps://client.company.com. This to avoid users getting the "Your connection is not private" error and to comply with company policies.

Can someone help me with this issue? Thank you.
