OpenVPN seems to lose passwords

AWS MarketPlace OpenVPN
Version 2.1.9

Hello,

We are using local authentication with MFA and have noticed several users logins cease to work after a period of time. My 1st thought was password expiry but I don't see that option with local auth. Is this a setting somewhere not in the GUI or bug?
