Ubuntu9 I386 64 bit file for OpenVPN

Post by whoa » Wed Jun 29, 2011 1:51 am

So I go to Access Server > Software > Ubuntu then click on the button for Ubuntu 9 64 bit but the button says AMD/x86 and I get the file "openvpn-as-1.8.0-Ubuntu9.amd_64.deb" which I dont think too much of but when I go to install the file on my Ubuntu 9 64 bit server

Code: Select all

 sudo dpkg -i openvpn-as-1.8.0-Ubuntu9.amd_64.deb
I get the following error

Code: Select all

 dpkg: error processing openvpn-as-1.8.0-Ubuntu9.amd_64.deb (--install):
package architecture (amd64) does not match system (i386)
which says it all. I need the Access Server package for Ubuntu 9 64 bit x86. Anyone able to point me to where that is? Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks!

Michael,

Please pardon my ignorance I am new to OpenVPN and I had no idea there was a difference. So apparently there's an OpenVPN Access Server v1.8.0 and then there's a"community" version which I would make the assumption is what is referenced here:

http://www.openvpn.net/index.php/open-s ... howto.html

Will both the AS and the community versions "fit" on the same linux box? and again another assumption I could make but its always good to at least ask (for the sake of being thorough) do you suggest the community version over the AS? If you do, would you please list some big reasons why you think so?

I'm inquisitive and from what I read from the above link it seems like theres no GUI and its all command line, which I'm ok with but it will take a longer time to configure.

Thanks!

The problem you described looks to be fixed now. Ubuntu 9 i386 does indeed the i386 installer. See here.
