Newbie Looking for Help/ Upgrade to Latest OpenVPN Client on Windows 7 64 bit.

I am a complete newbie. Have been using OpenVPN with my Netgear Router for a year on Windows 7.

I followed these instructions to install last year: https://www.smallnetbuilder.com/other/s ... ar-routers

Today, I want to upgrade to version OpenVPN v2.4 but am lost as to how to do so. Do I just uninstall the old software in Windows first? What about in network settings? Do I remove NETGEAR-VPN (as previously created per the instructions) after uninstallation? Then I install the new version of OPENVPN and reconfigure the networks settings to recreate a new NETGEAR VPN?

Sorry if this is anal, I just don’t want to mess up the network settings part.

Thanks in advance!

OK I think I upgraded properly. But when I try to connect I get the following.

This means the MD5 stuff used by Netgear is too weak and cannot connect?

Thu Apr 26 21:36:09 2018 us=655864 OpenSSL: error:140AB18E:SSL routines:SSL_CTX_use_certificate:ca md too weak

You will need to create a new PKI.

I recommend using:
https://github.com/OpenVPN/easy-rsa/releases

Create a completely new PKI and upload the files to the relevant machines.
