DNS lookup failed on host u'myvpnurl'

Post by stephaneb » Wed Nov 01, 2017 9:59 am

We are using:

Server: OpenVPN Access Server 2.0.24
Clients: OpenVPN Connect 2.0.18.202 (Windows)

From some locations we are having following error and we are not able to connect:

Some of these locations are from airports or hotels (sometimes in Middle East).

Does the "DNS lookup failed" message means that the DNS server isn't able to translate the URL to the IP address?
In that case what is the workaround?

Is there anything I should check?

DNS lookup failed usually means that... the DNS lookup has failed. So yeah, DNS problem likely. You can try editing the local hosts file and putting the IP address and host name in manually. You can use a program like Hosts File Editor for that to make life easy. Does still mean you need to know the IP address though.
I'm still alive, just posting under the openvpn_inc alias now as part of a larger group.
