openvpnmsica tap_create_adaper DiInstallDevice failed Error 1460

Post by desbest » Wed Oct 07, 2020 2:37 am

Hello I'm trying to install OpenVPN 2.5 RC2 and I get this error.
openvpnmsica tap_create_adaper DiInstallDevice failed
Error 1460: This operation returned because the timeout period expired.
How do I fix it so I can install OpenVPN?

I'm using Windows 10 and the installer is running as administrator.

The RC installers are not production ready and it sounds like you have run into serious problems with Windblows.

If it's not production ready, why is it available for download? Surely people have to use the Release Candidate first before it becomes a stable release. How can the software developers of OpenVPN make 2.5 a stable release, if no one uses it? Someone has to test it.

Anyway, since I'm having problems with 2.5RC2, I think I'll stop installing 2.5RC2 until it becomes stable, and instead install the last stable version of 2.4.9

A release candidate is made available specifically for testing purposes.
