I see several people have posted similar comments about 2.3.0 not working and having to roll back to 2.2.2. It looks like 2.3.0 is not stable and hasn't been fully regression-tested, or there is a compatibility break when connecting to an older server version that is still running 2.2.2.

I did also try the 32-bit client which also failed but with slightly different issues, but have not yet logged the issues in detail for posting.

OpenVPN Community Edition version 2.3.x (Current):

TAP NDIS6 driver versions:
  • Installer (32-bit), Windows Vista and later = openvpn-install-2.3.6-I601-i686.exe
  • Installer (64-bit), Windows Vista and later = openvpn-install-2.3.6-I601-x86_64.exe
TAP NDIS5 driver versions:
  • Installer (32-bit), Windows XP and later = openvpn-install-2.3.6-I001-i686.exe
  • Installer (64-bit), Windows XP and later = openvpn-install-2.3.6-I001-x86_64.exe
If you are having trouble with any NDIS6 version please try the NDIS5 version.
