Tomato Router VPN w/ Static Key Issues

Post by CaliChris » Mon Nov 20, 2017 3:21 pm

I am trying to setup a very basic VPN config on a Tomato Shibby router. I am using just a static key generated by OpenVPN. I know this is not the most secure method but for my purposes it will suffice.

I tried importing my config to an iOS device, including copying over the static key file along with the .ovpn however the iOS client doesn't seem to see the key. So then I attempted to do the inline integrated key within the .ovpn, but no matter what tags I use I get an error "You must define CA file (--ca) or CA path (--capath)". I don't have a CA as I said I am using a simple static key.

Any help would be appreciated, thanks!

It is the iOS security requirement .. I don't know (and doubt) if there is a way to change that.

Hmm, so what is the cheapest and easiest way to do my own cert? Would I have to run a server? Any free CAs?
