I've kept this thread in mind from time to time when trawling the web, in case I stumbled on a free OpenVPN server.

[...]cut[...] Sorry, it was pptp only.

I can't vouch for the quality of this service, but it is advertised as free a OpenVPN tunnel: http://www.yourfreevpn.com/

Hi everyone, I am new here and also new to openVPN world
I wanted to configure a VPN between my house and my workplace

I was thinking to start and make some test with a free provider...
In your opinion, if I use a free provider, would I have the same "security" level?
Sorry for the newbie question, but I am concerned about the privacy of our documents.

Thanks a lot

L.

After working with multiple pay VPN providers, I just decided to build my own OpenVPN server on Amazon's EC2 using their free tier. It's free for a year. I pay next to nothing for transfer and the performance is phenomenal.

I've written a full review of how well it works on my setup. Did I mention that static IPs are free as well?

Full review at: http://swimminginthought.com/amazons-free-tier-personal-vpn-server/

Performance is phenomenal and I don't have to worry about port blocking.

Hopefully this post gets approved. It's a huge help to those that don't know what is being blocked as many VPN providers have a tendency to bend the truth.

I can't recommend free VPN providers because it has many problems, I am using a reasonably priced VPN service provider http://www.vpnfaqs.com/2015/12/google-vpn-the-new-best-thing/ with stable and secured connection to bypass Geo-restriction and go through blocking everywhere with anonymous IP address and private tunnel.

I'm a bit confused about using OpenVPN as I was looking for a connection protocol that would allow we to hook up a VPN to my Apple TV but after doing some digging found a lot of users are having issues using a VPN Provider for unblocking content like Netflix US on an Apple TV. I've read stuff like http://www.vpnfreaks.com/purevpn-review/ and they seem to be able to get a tool like PureVPN to work using OpenVPN to unblock stuff like BBC iPlayer when in the US.

Guess I will just have to keep reading on here till I find a valid solution to getting a VPN using OpenVPN protocol that works for my Apple TV and phone.

Virtual Private Network (VPN) is based on software protocols and OpenVPN is one of them. It is used for creating an encrypted connection to protect the internet traffic. OpenVPN is reliable for privacy and security but it takes a lot of time when you download or stream torrents because of high encryption. These days It is necessary to use the best VPN http://www.vpnlogics.com/best-china-vpn/ works over multiple protocols and purposes.

I can't trust free services, for the last year I am with iwasel service. They charge only $9.95 against my complete data security and anonymity on the internet and offer a big discount for the whole year subscription https://www.iwasel.xyz/en/smoketunneI/

A BIG NO! to free vpn service providers. They are the most useless things on the internet.

They log your activity and sell your data to other businesses. Plus IP leaks are more frequent. Sometimes you can't even watch geo-locked content by even changing your locations on different servers.
