I know it is possible to extract the number of active clients from the status file (status option) or from the syslog (using verb > 3, for example).

However, I don't want to log any of that data. I just want to know how many users are connected now in the server. Is it possible to know it, without saving it to these files or using the management tool?

I'm using UDP. If I were using TCP, maybe I could use something like netstat to check how many active connections were on on the OpenVPN port.

Thanks!
