Connecting to Macs behind the OpenVPN server of an ASUS router

Post by morandi1963@gmail.com » Wed Jun 30, 2021 9:15 pm

Hi,

I would appreciate any help with the following problem.

Background: I have set up an OpenVPN server on my home ASUS router, and I am able to connect to it remotely using Tunnelblick.
Once I connect to it remotely, I can ping the router itself (and can even login to it as admin), and I can also ping each of my 3 Mac computers on my home local network, using the static local IPs that my router gave them.

Problem: Even after successfully connecting to my router via OpenVPN, I still cannot see any of my Macs in the Finder (under "Locations") and I am not able to remotely connect to them.

Is it possible to remotely connect to Macs sitting on a local network behind an ASUS OpenVPN server? If so, how?

Thanks for your help!

There is probably something wrong with your router.
