Changed from windows to Ubuntu; please help ??

Post by smallhagrid » Sat Mar 28, 2020 7:36 am

Hello Folks.
I have recently changed my daily use OS from windows to Ubuntu 18.04.
My office has a functional server and allows me access via OpenVPN from my old PC,
I have copied all the files from that configuration to a flash drive & tried re-using the .OVPN file.
That doesn't connect - and I also tried it via the networking applet & the Pritunl Client without success,

Besides the .OVPN file there are these files:
cacert.pem
client, vpn
home.p12
key.txt
servercert.pem

Will someone please instruct me how I may use the info that I have to re-create my connection from home to office under Ubuntu ??

Thanks for any helpful replies !!

Use an inline config file:
https://community.openvpn.net/openvpn/wiki/IOSinline

This can help with Inline files:

It was long ago that the various keyfiles were generated & my notes are long gone from that effort
Don't waste your time on old files .. Especially old certificates.

Hopefully you've tuned into the whole 'covid' thing which has our entire region on lockdown ??

Thus I cannot make even ONE trip there,
Yeah ..

I can teach you how to cope .. but not for free.

In your office, where you do your job, that you do not know how to do, which is why you come here with a ridiculous question without reading any of the documentation.

In a word .. No.

If you need help answering the question above then the only possible reason for this, is that you have not read the howto.

And I don't buy your sorry sob-story one single jot.

Amazing.
Such a bunch of unhelpful people.
This may be the very least helpful discussion board I've ever visited.
This makes the typical Linux snarkers look like preschoolers.
Congrats to you folks on your total nastiness - you win.

free software mean you can do what ever you like and nobody have to help you at all that is true , learn your bussiness first and ASK later . you come here before and ask how to up date new ddns to connect to your openvpn server that is the most simple thing everybody can do without asking , if you ask that kind of thing so it is better to pay for someone do that job for you . trouble free is best .

Advertise your services here !!

Truly this is a place that encourages nastiness, as shown thus:

Home - Board index - Braggin' Rights - Doh!

Sincerest thanks for showing this (now disinterested member) that this place is actually managed by trolls.

And now, a better silence ensues from this member who uses this nick ONLY here, lest he acquire more enemies directly:
TinCanTech, who is currently on your ignore list, made this post.
The only manner of gaining improvements here, clearly.

Interesting how it is NOT actually called the ignore list here, but the friend/foe list instead.

Perhaps this is because it is known how some folks ONLY visit here to snipe at those seeking genuine support ??

And...these same folks (trolls, really) who waste their precious time & efforts aplenty hawking their services rather than being generous with (what for them...) are simple answers - then snark at the members who have honestly asked for help.

The works I've done speak well of my past services, and many folks have gotten hours of assistance from me at no charge - not counting the community agency I worked at for free for years providing recycled computers for poor families, that is.

If anyone was to PAY for anything relating to this realm after such treatment, it would drive them DIRECTLY to Anydesk's paid product rather than compensating some faceless, nameless stranger for their undisguised nastinesses.

The topic was moved because you edited responses leading to it making no sense.
If you want it deleted just say.

You are welcome to post a new.
I gloomily came to the ironic conclusion that if you take a highly intelligent person and give them the best possible, elite education, then you will most likely wind up with an academic who is completely impervious to reality.

My first answers were all helpful but you refused to read the help provided.

And then you played your "Corona Virus" card ..

It is you who should be ashamed of your total ignorance followed by your emotional blackmail.

And also, paying for help when you clearly refuse to help yourself is widely accepted as "The norm".
