multiple subnets behind openvpn server?

This is where we can discuss what we would like to see added or changed in OpenVPN.

multiple subnets behind openvpn server?

Post by kfj2018 » Sun May 13, 2018 11:32 pm

I have an OPENVPN server setup on a linksys router.. everything is working.. and I can access my local computers on the 192.168.1.x subnet.. we will call this router 1.

1) I have some static machines that are are the 100.100.x.x 255.255.0.0 subnet.. These are machines I cannot modify the IP of.. and typically I access them by setting a local ip manually on the client of 100.100.100.101 with subnet of 255.255.0.0 Is there any way to access these machines behind via the OPENVPN server when Im not on the local nework?

2) One thought I had was to setup a 2nd OPENVPN server behind the nat of router 1 using a different port for and port forwarding through router 1.. Ive been able to get a 255.255.255.0 subnet to work.. so I can access a computer on ip 100.100.175.4 for instance.. but when I try setting a 255.255.0.0 subnet on router 2 I lose access to that computer..

anyhow.. any advice on possible solutions would be great..

Ideally I'd like to be able to take router 2 to remote locations and setup a single port forward on the local router that would allow me to use the openvpn and proprietary machines in different locations.. Im open to purchasing other hardward but ideally would like a small portable hardware the size of a router or so..

Thanks,

Kevin
