This is where we can discuss what we would like to see added or changed in OpenVPN.

Verify Server Config Before Restart

Post by bcmallory » Thu Nov 09, 2017 5:15 pm

I am running a multiple tunnel openvpn server with 120 tunnels on each instance. Occasionally I have to add routes or make config changes. There has been a few instances where a server config had an error of some kind and the restart caused all the clients down time. Does any one know of a way to verify the config file before a restart takes place. I see there is an openvpn --config option but doesn't seem to work with what I am looking for. I am looking for an option like they have with shorewall, you can run shorewall check and that will check all the configuration and inform you of an error.

Thanks
BM
