[MOVED] Client pings server but server cant ping Client.

Post by hagala » Sun Dec 26, 2010 9:47 am

Hello,

I'm running the latest OpenVPN VHD on hyper-v r2 2008 x64.

Server: 192.168.2.1
Client: 192.168.1.1

so client connects to server 192.168.2.1 and can ping all the machines on it. But from the server no ping to the clients lan 192.168.1.1.

I have route 192.168.1.0 255.255.255.0 and push "route 192.168.1.0 255.255.255.0"
added under server directive under admin page, vpn settings.

Thanks

1. As "push route" in server.conf is to advertise server subnet to client, I think that "1" should be "2"
2. Try shut down client's firewall to test
3. I have not 100% followed the forum rules to ask, but I think people need more details from you to help.

Hello,

Yeah. Those VMs are for the OpenVPN Access Server product. If there is potential that you might purchase this product, you'll want to contact the openvpn access server support team via the (http://www.openvpn.net) web site. Otherwise, if you're interested in the community version, you can install it on pretty much anything (is there source support for VMS yet? :P :) )

If you decide to go the community route, please be sure to review the how-to, faq and tutorial documentation on the the community section of the web site. There are also a lot of good sites that can be found by way of your favorite search engine that have walk-throughs on various types of vpn configurations.

Anyway, at that point, we can work with you on any issues you might still be having.

Note: This isn't a blow-off. It's just that the AS product configuration is rather different from the community version. The aforementioned support team is equipped to handle your questions.

Regards,
Stephen
