OpenVPN for GPRS Bidirectional Communication?

Post by sholla » Tue Nov 23, 2010 10:52 am

Hi

Our requirement goes as follows :

We have a server which will be in a corporate network but reachable from the public internet.

We have multiple GPRS enabled devices remotely which needs to be connected to the above mentioned server for data exchange. The GPRS enabled devices will be assigned dynamic Private IP addresses from the GPRS Provider.

We need the data flow on either directions. That is, both the Server and GPRS Device should be able to initiate data transfer to each other respectively. So basically it should be a two way connection.

Now we are planning take OpenVPN into use for this solution. The Server will act as OpenVPN Server and GPRS devices will act as OpenVPN Clients.

So can you please explain what we should do in addition to the regualr openvpn client-server setup to achieve bi-directional connection between Server and GPRS Devices considering the GPRS Devices will have dynamic private IP addresses assigned by the GPRS Service providers.

I really appreciate your help here..

Thanks
Sudheendra
