How to legally assign ownership of an OpenVPN account?

Post by DavidMeyer » Mon Jul 19, 2021 6:54 pm

Hi,
I run a website that makes use of the OpenVPN community edition which is hosted on our own internal server. We are selling the website to another company, and nothing will change at all in terms of how we use OpenVPN, and even our email addresses and admins will stay the same. But we just need to be sure the new owner has legal rights to continue using what we have set up. In legal terms this is called "assigning ownership" and we are wondering who at OpenVPN can sign something that consents to this change/assigning of ownership.

Thanks if you can help!

David

Refer your buyer to the GNU General Public License (GPL) Version 2. OpenVPN, Inc. has no part in your transfer of ownership. The buyer is bound by the terms of the GNU GPL just as you were. If they do not agree to the terms of the license, they have the same option you did: to stop using the software.

Congratulations on the sale, best wishes for the future. Regards, rob0

Most legitimate companies have a "legal" department ..

Everybody else has a B/S department..
