Using IPv6 between server and host and IPv4 between server and client

Post by cygnu5x1 » Fri Jul 16, 2021 4:19 pm

Hello everybody,

I have the following problem. I set up a Debian remote VPS that runs my openVPN server.
I need to achieve the following, but couldn't find any way to do so, or to even find out if it is possible or not:

I need the server to communicate to the internet /to remote hosts/ using it's IPv6 interface, but I also need the server to communicate with my computer endpoint (oVPN client) at home using it's IPv4 interface. Is this possible, and if yes, how can this be achieved please?

Internet (Google, Youtube, etc...) <========== IPv6 ========> My oVPN server (VPS debian) <======= IPv4 ========> My computer (client)

The reason why I need to do this is because I need to use IPv6 to connect to remote hosts, but my ISP doesn't support IPv6, so I need to communicate with the oVPN server using IPv4.

Thanks for any advice in advance!

Not with Openvpn.

Could you please tell me how to achieve it, or where to find any guidelines on how this can be achieved?

TYSM

Perhaps you can explain how you cannot use the internet with IPv4 first ?

It's really not a point in this discussion, but I need to use a rented server and those rented server IPv4 addresses get blacklisted, but IPv6 addresses are not blacklisted.
