Good morning,

I connect my openvpn between a Nas synology and my computer in my job... The server is my Nas synology and the client is the computer. I can connect successfully but It creates unidentified network with speed 100 megabytes (The adapter is TAP WINDOWS ADAPTER V9) but my local red is 1gb.
I have isp movistar with 600 megabytes symmetrical in my house and in my job is the same isp with 300 megabytes symmetrical but the test speed leaves 50 megabytes of download and 110 megabytes of upload. Please I need to clarify it because I think don´t understand well.

Best Regards,

The current TAP driver displays 100mb link speed and the new one will display 1gb link speed.
But the link speed is only a value in a field and the driver will run at what ever speed is available by your system.

Then, why I cannot reach more speed in download and upload? When I connect OPENVPN in my job I connect my folders of the nas and I have tested in both directions but I only reach 3.5 megabytes in download from nas to the computer and 8 megabytes from job to Nas.... I speak about files type films for example. Any idea how to improve this trouble?

Best Regards,

Problems with speed are very common and the causes vary widely.

As a test, place your client computer in the same LAN as your server and connect directly then test the speed. You should be able to max out the VPN speed (more or less). I get ~24Mbit/sec on a 54Mbit WLAN.

In the edit config I remove '#' redirect-gateway def1 and in the website whichismyip I can see the ip public of my house where is the server. Then, I don´t know if I understand or not. If I do the test of speed I can get 55mbt/sec download and 115 mbit/sec of upload. The bottlekneck is the client in my office here we have 300mbit symmetrical.

Please this speed is normal with openvpn or I should have more speed ??. If I download or upload something I get 3.5mbit/sec and 8mbit/Sec.

Please give me more solutions or clarifications.

Best Regards,
