Can connect to vpn server but Remote Desktop doesn't recognize credentials

Post by hess8 » Wed Nov 28, 2018 5:43 am

I'm trying to connect to my home computer via Remote Desktop from work and other computers at home.

Here are my successes and failures:
1. Success: I can connect to my openvpn server from work and other home computers. I'm using an openvpn server built into my Asus router, and don't know much about it, but could post some screenshots from the router gui.

2. Success: Remote desktop allows me to connect to my home computer from other home computers on the wireless lan

3. Failure: I can't connect to my home computer from work computers. RD says the home computer doesn't recognize the credentials. I've tried the username variations that were suggested online like computer\username.

Any ideas about why my credentials aren't getting through to my home computer when I connect to the vpn server from work instead of home?

Thanks!

Windows 10.
