What does error code 0x80004005 mean please?

I am setup on a windows 10 computer as a client and windows 7 as server.

The ip address for the client machine is 10.26.0.6 and for the server it is 10.26.0.1

When I want to connect to the server after I open the OpenVpn Gui Software I type \\10.26.0.1 in file explorer for windows 10.

What am I doing wrong please? Thank you.

That error message is a Windows error message which has nothing to do with openvpn.

It sounds like you do not have file sharing or something like that setup properly in Windows.

I will check out the file sharing issue on both machines and report back. Thank you!

Fiie sharing is turned on now on my computer. It hadn't been but the connection still didn't work. I will have to get the other computer checked to make sure that it is turned on there. I also need to make sure that the information I am required to access is in a public shared folder right? Thanks.

:? Hi Everyone:

I was hoping to post a screenshot of my issue but unfortunately I am not allowed.

Here is what is going on:

I have a server computer in a different location that is running Windows 7 Home Edition.
I have a client computer in my house that is Windows 10 Home Edition.

I am trying to connect to the server computer but i get the following Error:

Network Error:

Windows cannot connect access \\10.26.0.1 Error code is 0x80004005 unspecified error

The Share settings on the client computer (Windows 10 Home Edition with IP address \\10.26.0.6) is set as Public Folder Sharing - Turn on Sharing so anyone with network access can read and write files in the public folders. Also I have selected: Use 128 bit encryption and also selected turn on password protected sharing. (I was given a username and password to use).

I was told that file sharing is set on the Server as well.

Any assistance would be appreciated. Thank you. :?

If you continue to post the same question over and over again they will be deleted.

For your information:
  • This forum is for the support of OpenVPN.
  • If you need help with Microsoft networking this is not the right forum for you to ask.
  • Now that you have asked your question you will have to wait for someone who wants to help.
