openvpn-gui.exe

Post by BrianG61UK » Fri Aug 04, 2017 12:25 am

I'm running openvpn-install-2.4.3-I602.exe on 64 bit Windows 7 Ultimate.
Why does openvpn-gui.exe run as "Below Normal" priority??
Surely this process will never use much CPU and should be Normal priority or higher.
Running it as Below Normal just means it can't get any CPU and can't be used if something else at Normal Priority is grabbing 100% CPU.

WAKEY WAKEY
HELLO!!!

OpenVPN-gui is still moronically running at Below Normal priority in 2.4.4-I601.

THERE IS NO DANGER OF IT USING TOO MUCH PROCESSOR -- IT SHOULD BE AT NORMAL PRIORITY.

What exactly is the point of this forum?
Does everything just get ignored?
Are you all just stubborn jerks who think you know best?

The GUI runs at NORMAL priority by default .: You must have tweaked it ..

Not really .. besides the GUI doesn't really do anything except launch the openvpn.EXE and then receive some log data.

You are correct. I'm very sorry for making such a fuss.

I was starting it from Task Scheduler because I found that Windows starts up more reliably if I delay startup items by differing short times so that they aren't all starting together. I didn't know Windows 7 defaults to setting priority to Below Normal for all scheduled tasks.

I hope you can accept my apology.
