OpenVPN server home to AWS VPN

Hi,
I am trying to setup a vpn between my home network and AWS VPC using the AWS VPN option. My OpenVPN server sits behind my fios router and I have followed the guides on the net. I can connect to AWS VPN tunnels because they say it is UP. However when I provision a VM in my VPC. I cannot ping to it from my home network!!! Are there any tricks or gotchas that I am missing?

Security group on AWS host allow ICMP response?
